Activities

Music Therapy – Every other week, David Arntuffus the musician visits each home for an after dinner guitar playing sing-a long.  He visits from 6-7pm.  Residents love to sing to their favorites.

Visiting Beautician – every 6 weeks, our friendly beautician visits each home and provides hair cuts to our residents.

Regular Activities in the Home:
Daily Exercise and Stretching:  Every day, our caregivers lead our residents in a stretching and seated exercise session.  Usually after breakfast or after lunch, the caregivers assist the residents in stretching muscles, and moving body parts, often to fun and lively music.  Even residents who don’t think they want to participate are soon smiling and following along.

Manicures and Pedicures – one or our weekly activities in the home is our “Mani-Pedi” day, where our caregivers cut and file fingernails and toenails and then the residents can choose which color polish they would like!

Daily Activities:  Every day, there is a scheduled formal activity in each home, which is written on our activity board so that residents can look forward to it.  Typical daily activities are:

  • Movie and Popcorn  or Seahawks parties
  • Read-A-loud chapter book or articles from newspaper or reminisce magazine
  • Bingo
  • Group Trivia
  • Table Top Art
  • Pool noodle balloon toss game
  • Game day
  • Mani-Pedis
  • Baking activity
  • Happy Hour (fun fruity cocktails)
  • Karaoke

1:1 or small group activities:  All throughout the day, the caregivers engage in 1:1 activities with residents, such as folding laundry, residents assisting in the kitchen with simple tasks, taking walks outdoors, arranging flowers, coloring art pages, listening to music together, playing cards, or just visiting with each other.  The homes physical layout promotes interactions and conversations.
